Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter has had problems with her left breast for 2 years. Started out with a lump, cist, underneath her arm pit. they cut it out. Her nipple is inverted. Been like that for awhile. Her nipple and around it is hard. Did do an mama gram and seems like a cist. They can t see anything pass the mass so they put her on antibodies. I heard to put cooked cabbage to relief the pain and it drained. She had to stop breastfeeding. Granted she has had 2 kides. Her recent child is 8 weeks old. It is draining green, brown and red.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
I would recommend your daughter to have a breast ultrasound done. This would check for breast abscess, if she is breastfeeding very likely she is at risk of mastitis (breast infection) and abscess and if abscess develops she needs to have it drained (opened). The ultrasound would also examine her for breast mass: mammogram is not effective in women younger than 40 years of age and especially in breastfeeding women due to the dense breast tissue so it is not the best examination. In these women ultrasound has better visualization and is more recommended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
