What Causes Anal Bleeding And Discharge Post Fistula Surgery?
Hi Dr My husband has had fistula surgery on July 5 - up until today there is still bleeding and discharge througout the day and he thus has to wear pad and a gauze - he changes the gauze about 3 time during the course of the day. He is on warfarin medication and our last appoitment with the surgeon, the surgeon mentioned that the Wafarin could be preventing healing. He also mentioned that the hole has not closed fully - when does this close and when does this bleeding and discharge stop - especially if you have had the surgery
First thing here, in this case, is to stop the Warfarin. Once the bleeding stops then healing will start too. If the condition is still as it is then it might be the post-surgical complication. Repair might not be done in proper way or it may be something else that needs to be clinically examined. It may be infection that might be playing the role in delaying the healing.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
