Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Anaphylactic Reaction After Having Deplin And Cyanocobalamin?
hello I reported an anaphylaxis reaction to deplin. I have been diagnosed with homozygous mthfr c667t. At the time, I had psoriasis, shaking hands, poor eyesight and decreasing ability to think and remember. So I wonder if I not being able to use folate in food is related to my reaction. About 3 weeks after taking the deplin, I was given an injection of cyanocobalamin and right away I developed anaphylaxis. I m curious what functional level of methylation could do this. It s so odd to wind up in the ER after taking such common meds. Any ideas?
Regarding your concern, I would explain that the allergy reaction could be related to other substances present in Deplin formulation or Cyanocobalamin. For this reason, I would recommend checking folic acid levels and vitamin B12 plasma levels and performing allergy tests. You should discuss with your doctor on the above treatment options.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
