Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What would cause an area of the calf of my leg to be sunk in? I am 59 years old and weigh 122 lbs. and am 5' 2" in height. I supposedly suffer from RLS. I take requip, but it doesn't work much of the time. I am having pain from this sunken area on the outside of my right calf, that extends down to my ankle.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Restless leg syndrome would not cause these symptoms. 2. X-ray of ankle joint is necessary for evaluation of arthritis/ fracture. 3. If you bend the foot at the ankle joint towards you and if there is pain, it could be possible calf muscle spasm. Will need to check footwear and gait. 4. Do meet your doctor for X-ray. NSAID Painkillers like celecoxib can be taken meanwhile. Also take plenty of water. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
