What Causes Ankle Swelling And Stiffness With History Of Having Ankle Dislocation?

had dislocated ankle with compound breaks. Had surgery with plate and screws. I am now putting full weight after two and a half month... doing physical therapy, but the ankle feels super stiff even after many exercises....It s always swollen and sore when there s full weight....ice helps for awhile but..... Anything else I can do to help the rehab process? My therapist said, I see you are still limping!!! Thank you

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Since it was a significant injury followed by complicated surgery, it will take few months for things back to normal. Apart from occasional analgesic support, passive exercise and regular physiotherapy, nothing else is needed in my opinion. Your orthopedist can give more details.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
