Hi, Birth control pill contains both estrogen and progesterone or progesterone only that is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses and in the treatment of various menstrual abnormalities like irregular periods, prolonged periods or heavy bleeding during periods, acnes etc. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. It may cause anxiety, mood swings, depression, restlessness, nervousness, changes in sexual drive, breast enlargement and tender, headache, sweating, easily bruising, impaired wound healing, spotting or breakthrough bleeding between periods, vaginal discharge, vaginal bleeding and many more. Most of these side effects are mild as well as self limiting and usually go away over time.
