Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Back Pain And Leg Numbness Along With Fever During Pregnancy?
My daughter in law is pregnant about 26 weeks. She had a dental appt today for a regular cleaning after the appt she has not felt well. She is having chills, pain in her back between her shoulder blades and periodically her legs tingle and then go numb. She said she can usually feel the baby moving and can rub her belly and fell a hard spot when the baby is laying. Since this all started her belly is soft not firm. What could be wrong?
As mentioned in the question, if your daughter in law is experiencing tingling and numbness in her legs and back pain, her blood pressure needs to be checked and she needs complete bed rest. In my opinion, it's better if she consults her obstetrician and have her blood pressure checked and ultrasound scan done. A soft abdomen rules out any abdominal causes like bowel torsions or ulcer perforations. If the symptoms continue or get increased in intensity even after 24 hours, please do consult your OBGYN.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
