What Causes Back Pain While Taking Deep Breaths After A Rib Fracture?

Hi, i broke two ribs a month and 5 days was feeling much better 2 weeks ago but im having problems laying on my back have sharp pain and when i breath deeply it hurts and I feel my ribs moving and its very painful. My blood was drawn and im low on vitamin D as well what should I do? I broke my ribs by coughing had bronchitis.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have back pain while taking deep breaths after a rib fracture . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to rib fracture and there can be treatment option for broken rib. I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray , CT scan or bone scan . Doctor may wrap elastic bandage around your chest along with splint and prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also recommend deep breathing exercises for broken rib , which are very effective along with physical therapy .For now take proper rest , apply warm compresses on broken several times a day and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Deep breathing exercises will also be helpful.
