It would first need to determined if there is a recent trauma or event that precipitated the change in the behavior.
She or he would need to be gently questioned. This can be done by a parent or other close relative or a counselor if an objective person is needed.
If it is difficult to get information or the cause is still unclear, she or he would need to be assessed by her doctor who may then refer to the pediatric counselor or psychiatrist depending on the nature of the problem.
