What Causes Bitter Taste In The Mouth After Taking Pantocid HP?

Hello sir, I have been diagnosed with H Pylori and have been asked to Pantocid hp after meals, after dinner and breakfast. I have been taking this medicine for the last 6 days and since then my diet has reduced, I have bitter taste in my mouth and discomfort in the abdominal area. So is it something to worry about or should I reduce the dosage?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of bitter taste in mouth after taking Pantocid HP which contains clarithromycin, Pantoprazole and Amoxicillin and out of which clarithromycin causes pain in abdominal area and antibiotic causes bitter taste.

I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine completely and may prescribe alternative medications.

Till then maintain proper oral hygiene .

Do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day .

- Avoid laying on bed immediately after having food and take a light walk.

- Do chlorhexidine mouthwash rinses twice .

- Take antacid empty stomach as well.
