family member 8 days ago had colon resection for CA. Some blood loss noted but uknown of where abouts...think it may be loss from irritated stomach due to GI tube which was placed Wed.....hct of 26 after 2 units of blood hgb of 8.
75 years old with CHF and COPD...O2 sats 90's.....PICC line with TPN as of yesterday.....HR in low 100;s..up to 170 when he stands....bowel is just waking up.....doctor does not want to give anymore blood right now....also......bowel movements started yesterday.....do you think waiting to give blood is right decision considering how hard his heart is working? He was walking some but has become to weak...anything we may be missing or just nee time?
