What Causes Bleeding And Pain In The Knee Despite Taking Meloxicam For Arthritis?

I have degenerative arthritis in both knees. 61 years old. Being treated with meloxocam.Always have discomfort but over the last not debilitating. This weekend, after I felt what I thought was blood running from my knee down my leg, and found no outward bleeding, I have knee pain when I have to go up and down stairs, pull my self out of the chair. Pain on top of the knee. When I bend my knee. Once I get up and walk not so bad.. but any bending.. Painful.
