What Causes Blisters On Injured Ankle After Taking Doxycycline?
I have had a wound on my right ankle do to hitting it on the side of my car door as I got into my auto. Have been to wound clinic. Ostensible, the wound has closed. Infection reappears or never went away. I am on Doxycycline Hyclate, 100 mg twice a day. Now have large blisters on ankles, redness, heat and stiffness. I have not been able to lay prone for 2 1/2 months because of severe nerve pain in th ankle area where wound was or is. The ankle where wound is has 2 screws in it because of broken ankle some 42 years ago. The blisters have increased in number during the day and a half. The blisters are primarily on lower leg/ankle of u infected leg...though some are present now on infected ankle area. The blisters have occurred recently . Could they be a reaction to Doxycycline?...what should I do / whom shall I see for this condition?
Hello, Always, when you have a reaction like this after starting a drug call your doctor. This situation needs to be looked at and a proper diagnosis made. It sounds like an allergic reaction to the Doxycycline to me. It could also be an episode of shingles. It could be a localized infection ready to go into sepsis. Why can't the wound clinic take care of this? If they won't please call your primary and explain the situation. Someone needs to physically examine the site and prescribe the appropriate medication and probably wrap it take you off of Doxycycline and put you on another antibiotic. Thank you for coming to HCM.
