Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i thought that i was in menopause for the past 2 yrs but a few days ago i started bleeding and today my Dr. did a biopsy today and told me that i had a lot of blood clots in my cervix. I m waiting for the results but my curiosity has been on high alert. What types of conditions could cause this? I m 51 and still have everything down there.
The blood clots can originate from the cervix or they may be from the uterus.
Changes to the inner lining of the uterus (endometrium) can cause bleeding. This may refer to benign (non cancer) polyps or more serious changes (cancer). The biopsy can determine which,if any of this, is present.
If there is no recent pap smear, then this may need to be done to assess the state of cervix.
I hope this helps
