What Causes Blood In Eardrum And Severe Cough Post Recovery From Perforated Eardrum?
My 5 yr old daughter had a perforated ear drum a few weeks back and was felling well after a week with sterile ear drops, however there is still some blood you can see in her ear drums and has been coughing excessively, could this be the reason of the ear drum rupture or from a viral infection
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have blood in eardrum and severe cough post recovery from perforated eardrum which could be due to ear infection , trauma , swimmer’s ear, excessive fluid accumulation and otitis externa.
Soemtimes infection remains or reoccur even after treatment due to low immunity or incomplete antibiotics course .I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination without any delay so that further complications can be prevented .
Doctor will examina with otoscope , order CT scan , blood test , MRI or check vitals . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( gentamicin ) , sedatives , anti inflammatory and supplement like gingko biloba . Doctor may consider surgery only after proper examination .
Infection from ear can spread to upper respiratory track through eustachian tube . For now keep your head elevated while sleeping and apply warm dry compresses to external ear .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
