What Causes Blood In The Urine Post Complete Hysterectomy?

I have had a complete hysterectomy 4 years ago, 56yr old, I noticed small blood spots in my urine, with no body pain. I DONT SMOKE , DONOT DRINK ALCOHOL, follow a very good organic diet, I don t exercise enough, I have noted this symptom now for 2 years, on and off, and also have not had intercourse for a month. Just concerned, do I need to see a urologist for this? Would I have symtoms of bladder cancer or is it kidney?

Hello,

The blood spots can come from urine or from the vagina. it is important to see your local doctor and have a vaginal examination and a urinalysis. If your local doctor does not do vaginal examination, a urologist or a gynecologist might be a good choice. You will also need a urinalysis to confirm the presence of blood, which in this case can not surely distinguish if it is due to urinary problems or comes from the vagina.

Bleeding can happen in the urinary system due to infection, stones or tumors but can also happen from the vagina due to vaginal atrophy due to total hysterectomy and lack of estrogens or can be bleeding due to lesions in the vagina which need to be ruled out with a gynecological visit.

According to the findings of these examinations, the doctor might decide on further tests to better determine the cause.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
