What Causes Blood In Urine After Exercise?

Hi, my boyfriend exercised today for the first time in a little while. He did quite a few sit-ups using a ball, and noticed some red blood in his urine. No burning, frequency, or any further blood following that episode. No abdominal, or bad pain. Can sit-ups cause hematuria?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The usual sit-ups do not cause hematuria unless it is very vigorous or associated with lack of hydration level.

Allow him plenty of liquids, avoidance of sit-ups till further week. Consult your doctor as per the requirement.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
