The following are some of the probable causes of your symptoms:
1)
Cervical radiculopathy or compression of nerve root of cervical spine
2)
Brachial plexus compression
3) Tennis elbow
4) Radial nerve entrapment
5)
Osteoarthritis of elbow joint
Most common is cervical radiculopathy or compression of nerve root at cervical spine mostly at c7 level. The following investigations help in diagnosis.
1) Plain X-ray cervical spine lateral view and anteroposterior view and open mouth view
2) MRI to rule out any soft tissue abnormalities like disc herniation
The following is the plan of treatment
1) When the pain is severe, NSAID s like Ibuprofen are to be taken twice daily for 4-5 days
2) A
cervical collar would help reducing neck tension
3)
Physiotherapy is recommended after pain relief
4) Neck muscles strengthening exercises form crux in long term prevention, they help to stay symptoms free
5) When the symptoms don't relieve with above therapy, cervical epidural steroid injection is recommended. this is to be done experts under supervision.
6) While using NSAIDs, there is risk of gastric irritation and ulcers. So tab. Pantop 40 once daily before food is advised.
