What Causes Bluing Of The Sclera In A Premature Infant?
hi... I have a 10wk premature infant who has recurrent uri s and facial features of that of a child with hurlers syndrom. Is it best to ask a neuro or his pcp? Pcp says no but there are some pics online which could be my sons twin. Also is it possible cuz of his plagiocephaly it caused these deformities? Oh and he has bluing of his sclera is that part of this disorder?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I recommend a sub-specialist in genetics to evaluate your infant. These doctors are found within the Department of Pediatrics at a university hospital associated with a medical school. Blue sclerae are found in healthy infants and young children. The eye findings of Hurler's are cataracts and corneal clouding. Plagiocephaly is not associated with Hurler's syndrome.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
