Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my husband has chills and then hot spells. His fever has reached 102.2. I took him to the doc and they said he has not the flu. to take tylonel and wait a couple days he has an infection. after the 4 hours wears of he is chilled again. what can we do?
The flu can cause temperature fluctuations in patients and this may take a few days before the condition starts to improve. In the meantime Tylenol can help to keep your husband comfortable until his body fights off the virus causing the problem.
If he's not allergic to it, he can try using ibuprofen 400mg every 8 hours with meals to help for the fever. He can also take lukewarm baths as this will also help.
If by the 3rd day he hasn't started to improve, then he should be re-evaluated again.
