What Causes Bouts Of Light Headedness And Fainting?

Hi Dr Rynne, my question is the following. I recently had an episode where I felt light headed, dizzy, somewhat faint. It only lasted a few moments and its been happening on and off for the last few days. Im a 43 year male, over weight, taking blood pressure and cholesterol meds. I went to my Dr. and everything seems fine. He lowered my blood pressure meds thinking they might be too high. But Im still concerned of what it could be. Im about 3 or 4 weeks away from weight loss surgery and wanting to make sure Im ok prior to surgery. Any ideas???

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of bouts of light headedness and fainting . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like migraine , meniere's disease , inner ear infection angina . Sinusitis can also cause such symptoms . If there is shortness of breath , dizziness and fatigue then consult cardiologist without any delay .For now take steam and do warm saline gargles. Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist for ear problem or neurologist for migraine . For now avoid bending forward and drink green tea thrice a day .
