What Causes Breathing Problem While Using Cpap In Sleep Apnea Patient?
I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in November. Started on a cpap in December and once I started wearing it I was able to do more. However, in the last month breathing became harder..seemed I was always out of breath. Have been to a cardiologist, asthma doctor, allergy doctor, pulmonary doctor. I took a chemical breathing test that indicated I do not have asthma although I was treated aggressively for asthma before the cpap. I slept with a gadget on my finger that said I was below 89% oxygen intake 36% if the night. Now I am told by the pulmonary doctor that I am going to have oxygen added to my cpap. I am a bit overweight but not obese. Every one tells me different things. Going to an ENT tomorrow. Not sure what direction to go next. Any suggestions?
The problem here is the pressure of the cpap used. some machines come with a chip(memory card) which records the events. you can call the company person and get a print of that and show it to your sleep/pulmonary physician. if not get a repeat titration study which will tell you the optimum pressure to be set. (some factors do decrease your apneahypopnea index..like if you lose 10% weight, the index decreases by 25%)
