HI, I have been on the pill for over a year now and have never missed a pill. I skip the sugar pills so I avoid having my period. About a couple of month ago I have noticed that a slimy brown sometimes bloody looking discharge. I don t know what this means. I haven t skipped a pill so I know I must not be pregnant I take all precautions not to be pregnant. Is this just old blood or is there a way I can get rid of it for good?
Hi there, After going through your question, I am of the opinion that: 1) The brownish discharge could be due to endometrial hyperplasia caused by the pills. 2) Infection can also lead to discharge. 3) It could be a breakthrough bleeding caused due to thick endometrium brought about by hormones in pills. 4) You need to take the sugar pills and get your periods every month. You cannot take pills for a year without break as it can cause lots of problems. 5) In my opinion, you need to immediately get an ultrasound done and take treatment according to report. I hope this was helpful. Regards, Dr. Shikha
