What Causes Brownish Discharge During Menstruation?

I am experiencing a brown vaginal discharge. It may be old blood, but I am not sure. I feel no discomfort or pain of any kind. After wiping after urination or bowel movements, there is a dark brown residue on the toilet paper. I am 27 years old, and was once using Nuvaring, but discontinued it after experiencing clotted discharges of old blood. I this was about 10 months ago that I stopped using Nuvaring.

I really appreciate your concern, it may be retained blood in uterine cavity, but it may not be the menstrual bleeding, although it is nothing to worry, if it long last then may need ultrasonography test it does not seems to be irregular bleeding hope this information helps.
