What Causes Burning Pain In The Neck And Shoulder?

Severe neck pain on left side with loss o significant loss of strength in left arm. Burning in left side of the shoulder and neck. Received three separate fusions last one being around 2010. Discomfort in left ear. Symptoms have continued to worsen

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have burning pain in the neck and shoulder . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like cervical spondolysis , cervical radiculopathy , trigger points of trepezius muscle and nerve compression .

Condition like hyperthyroidism can also cause such symptoms . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI or x-ray . Doctor may also examine physically . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with vitamin d supplement .

Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for nerve problem or endocrinologist for hormonal imbalance . Doctor may also recommend particular stretching exercises and physical therapy . For now take proper rest , apply cold compresses on neck and shoulder and take ibuprofen for pain .
