What Causes Burning Sensation During Urination And Urinary Incontinence After Intercourse?

my 17 year old daughter had sexual intercourse, utilized a condom for protection. Since that time she has had burning with urination and some urge incontinence (wetting the bed at night and wetting her pants during the day). I took her to the pediatrician who did a urine dip and it came back normal, so they sent her for a urine culture for gonorrhea and chlamydia which also came back negative, but the urinary symptoms continue.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the symptoms described by your daughter, she is likely to be suffering from a urinary tract infection. Although the urine dip test has come back negative, the symptoms denote infection. Urine culture and sensitivity can be done. Empirical treatment with antibiotic can be started before the test results.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
