What Causes Burning Sensation In The Esophagus?

Last Monday I was eating some chicken and rice soup and when I swallow a bite my esophagus felt like it was burning like when you put something too hot in your mouth and it scalds the upper palate. Afterward for a couple of days it burned when I drank coffee and the esophagus was uncomfortable when swallowing. After a couple of days I called my gastroenterologist to get an appointment but he has nothing available till 12/6. I made an appointment with his NP tomorrow. I now have stomach pain (mild) and I noticed about the last four days my stool is darker than usual. I am wondering if there was something in the soup that could I swallowed that made the sensation of burning when it was actually scratching the esophagus.

Hi

Greetings From HealthcareMagic

You have got gastritis due to consumption of more of coffee and drinking hot foods can also trigger it. Just consume cold milk at night as of now

Also you can take syrup Gelusil 1-1-1 for 5 days and follow up with the improvement details

Take Care
