What Causes Canker Sores In Mouth Despite Using Triamcinolone Acetonide?
I recently had my teeth cleaned. The next day I began to experience discomfort in my mouth in the areas of my palette and tongue. I returned to the dentist after 2 weeks and was told that I was experiencing pain from canker sores. The canker sores have moved from one side of my mouth to the other and I believe they are on my tongue. Eating and talking are painful and difficult. I am currently using triamcinolone acetonide dental paste. Because it is topical and disappears quickly there is not much relief. Why would I be having such a string on canker sores in such unusual places? There was actually a knot on my bottom palette at the start. Thank you.

Hi,
As per your complain although Canker Sores occur more commonly on inner cheeks, and tongue but they can start anywhere including palate, gums etc. It can however be due to traumatic injury caused by the scaling instrument to the mucosa leading to formation of ulcers. Nothing to worry, you can start gargling with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine. You can apply a combination of antibiotic and Analgesic ointment. You can also take a Vitamin B complex supplement daily. You can do warm saline gargles.
Soda bicarb gargle by making a solution in water can help. You should also avoid spicy and chilled foods and drink plenty of water.
