What Causes Chapped Lips After Taking Amiodarone?

I took amiodarone for 4.5 months. My lips started cracking and chafing as soon as I started taking it. I have been off of the amiorarone for 8 weeks but my lips are still chafing. Also, I have a red ring around my mounth. I have been prescribed triamcinolone acetonide .5% to see if it will help. All of the documentation says not to use in on the face or get it in your mouth. Is it safe to use it this way? Could it cause some intestinal problems. I am experiencing those and thought it might be caused by this drug....

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is not related to Amiodarone. As a first line management you can apply Triamcinolone mouth paste for symptomatic relief. If lesion persists better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
