What Causes Chest Congestion Along With Itchy Bumps On The Body?

I had the flu a couple weeks ago that lasted for a few days. My chest has been congested ever since even though I felt better. Yesterday I had a breakout of itchy bumps all over my body. Even on my head. I got a fever that went up to 101.7. I feel better today but have a slight fever of 99.4. I still itch. What could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to tell you that it seems you are suffering from some kind of viral the way you have described your symptoms it seems you have varicella zoster infection that is chicken pox but it can only be confirmed on a physical examination.

In that case you need to be isolated as it is a contagious disease. It will take at least 10 to fifteen days for you to recover. Meanwhile, you need only symptomatic treatment. Take Tylenol at 8 hourly intervals for fever.

You can take tablet Levocetirizine 5 to relieve the itch. Also you can apply a soothing agent like lacto-calamine lotion. Don't scratch it otherwise it may leave permanent marks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.Amman
