What Causes Chest Discomfort While Having High Blood Pressure?
I am a 48 year old female and I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure I am very active and have noticed in the last week that I am experiencing chest discomfort I take my medication as I should but I am becoming concerned and how often I experience discomfort in my chest it doesn t hurt it just feels uncomfortable I m aware something doesn t feel right I no longer smoke I eat well and exercise regularly could this chest pains be related to my high blood pressure
chest pressure or pain could be due to many reasons. in long standing hypertensive patients it could be due cardiac complications that arise, it could be coronary artery disease. but it could also be due to acidity and regurgitation from stomach. some lung pathology could also be the cause. all you need to do is visit your physician who will take a detailed history of the nature of the pain, where it radiates to and what its associated with then he will perform some baseline investigations like an ecg, chest xray and some routine blood work depending on your history and examination. that will help reach the reason for your chest pain. it could be due to any benign reason but with a positive smoking history and hypertension it would be better to rule out any cardiac cause.
