Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chest Discomfort While Suffering From Stress?
I have been stressed out a lot lately. I have started having the feeling of a bubble on the left side of my chest. It does not hurt, but it does get bothersome at times. I have tried drinking an Alkerselzer and a soda but nothing works. it only feels better after a good nights rest.
When one has stress, the muscles contract. This happens to both the skeletal muscles and smooth muscles. This leads to feeling of chest contraction, and muscle contraction of the abdomen and limbs. After a good nights rest, when you are relaxed, the stress is no more there, and the muscles relax, and you get up feeling good. Try to sit alone for some time and if possible meditate, to remove the stress from your mind. This too will relieve you of the discomfort.
