Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr, my partner been taking Penicillin V Tablets 500mg that was prescribed by his Dr on the 29th of June, and now he's experiencing chest pain whenever he drinks or swallow something. His chest feels it's compressed, and it can't take a mouthful of food even though I'm taking small amount of food at a time. Is that normal Dr for my partner to experiencing chest pain?
PLEASE GET AN ECG DONE IMMEDIATELY IN THE ER. THOUGH GERD CAN CAUSE CHEST PAIN, CARDIAC CAUSES ARE MUCH MORE SERIOUS AND SHOULD BE RULED OUT FIRST. IF THE ECG IS NORMAL SHE WOULD REQUIRE A ONE WEEK TRIAL OF ESOMEPRAZOLE AND A PROKINETIC eg itopride.
THANX, HAVE A NICE DAY
