Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son who is 20 had his tonsils removed on August 21st. Prior to that he also had mono and Lyme. On day 8 after surgery he was complaining of chest pains. He had since hemmoraged and clotted twice has had to emergency surgeries, blood transfusion, and stomach pumped twice. To say he has been thru a lot is an understatement. He now has a heart murmur he has never had and also still having chest pains! Looking for guidance please. Went back to surgeon today who did a chest X-ray and also blood work to check red cell count and wants us to see a cardiologist. Please advise what else we should be doing and why an otherwise healthy 20 year old before all of this is still suffering from chest pains. And also is it true murmur could be caused from blood transfusion?
You can get a chest X-ray Posteroanterior view to rule out a chest infection. Secondly, he needs a course of antibiotics. Don't just start any antibiotic. Give him nutritious diet. Consult your doctor for further treatment.
Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.
Take care
