Hi,
Symptoms of GERD include a burning sensation in the chest (heartburn), sometimes spreading to the throat accompanied by a bitter taste in the mouth, regurgitation of food or liquid (
acid reflux), chest pain accompanied by some other symptoms.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a bowel disorder that has frustrating and debilitating symptoms, including
Abdominal pain, Cramping or bloating, Excess gas, Diarrhea or
constipation, or alternating bouts of each. Diet and lifestyle changes that reduce stress should benefit both IBS and GERD.
An
elimination diet that starts with very bland and simple foods, and then introduces new food groups in stages, may help identify foods that trigger symptoms. Each condition could be treated separately with medications. Antacids and acid-blocking medications are typically used for GERD. Antispasmodics and anti-anxiety medications are common, first-line treatments for IBS.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
