What Causes Chills, High Fever And Malaise?
My sister has been having random chills high fever malaise. Symptoms happen maybe once a week. Liver enzymes up then trend down. They have done every blood test and studies they can think of. Infectious disease doc GI doc PCP haven t been able to diagnose. They thought diverticulitis. She had an MRCP also. Nothing showing up. Any ideas? Could stress cause these symptoms?

Careful history needed to diagnose whether it is Pyrexia of unknown origin or stress related symptoms
In stress with anxiety apart from fever during panic attack sweating, dyspnea, malaise etc symptom can be present
You can investigated with blood PS examination, blood culture or bone marrow aspiration if needed
For stress yoga, meditation beneficial
If anxiety more fluoxetine like drug can be prescribed along with short term benzodizepine course
As fever only occasional stress might be related to it
Consult physician for examination and discuss all these and according to examination further work up planned (During examination physician will also palpate liver, Spleen and lymph nodes)
