What Causes Chronic Constipation?

I'm a woman who Is 71 years old and in the middle of last year I developed stomach problems. I've eaten healthy all my life especially born in Hawaii. I love my fresh fruit and I peel everything and wash it. Everyday I always had good bowel movements. In the last 4 months I don't have a movement everyday. The problem might be is that when I bowl 3 times a week I suck on hard coffee candy. I feel much better eliminating all together. I try to drink water everyday but I'm not thirsty all the time. I found out in 2008 I developed h-pylori which my doctor gave me antibiotics to get rid of it. I have had blood tests so far showing I don't have it anymore. I do eat yogurt 2 to 3 times a week. Do our bodies really change as we get older? I have no family history for any stomach problems. Marilyn
