hi, I have had a cough for 3 months now..i have been seen many times and my lungs are clear. They gave me a zpack to just try to see if that helps but no go. My cough normally starts up at 5 everyday and is a high pitch sound and you can hear an upper wheeze
** Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern
1.As you have been examined several times and results come back normal so it will be wise to see a chest specialist for detailed physical examination and consultation and since duration of a cough is more than 3 months thus one has to exclude conditions like chronic bronchitis/allergic bronchitis and bronchial asthma [since x-ray appearance do come normally in these cases]
PS. You might have to visit an ENT Doctor to rule out any pathology of vocal cord
2. Since there is no relief, ask for sputum AFB, Hb, WBC ESR, TFT, X-ray chest for TB, Pneumonia, CT chest, HIV test as routine
3. Make sure that common causes like post nasal drip, tobacco use, acid reflux are excluded in ongoing examination
4. the choice of antibiotic will vary from doctor to doctor and from locality to locality
