What Causes Chronic Cystitis?

Since taking a trip to India in March, I have had chronic cistitis and 3 dozes of antibiotics. I still have a chronic burning, frequent urinating but not the acute cititis. I suspect it s an inflamatory problem, b/c when I take AZA it helps for a few days. It keeps coming back and I m concerned about kidney cancer as my dad s youngest brother died from this. I am 75 yrs. old, a female.

I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern. You have chronic cystitis. You should go for urine routine and microscopic examination and culture and sensitivity testing. It will give you exact organism causing the infection and antibiotics which help against them. Then you should start antibiotics accordingly.

Don't worry about kidney cancer. It present with bleeding in urine and mass in abdomen. You don't have these symptoms so nothing to worry. Still if you want to confirm then go for ultrasound abdomen once. It will give you exact idea.
