What Causes Chronic Diarrhea Along With Fatigue And Low BP?

My moms been having diarrhea several times a day for about a week, she’s 66. She takes nexium, furosemide, synthesis and Lipitor (10mg), and singular daily. She has been feeling tired his past week and yesterday she was cold and said she was more thirsty than normal. Today she felt extremely tired and took her blood pressure, it was 123/53. She ate and drank some water and milk and it seemed to be back up to normal for about 20 minutes, and then it was back down again and she was feeling extremely tired. Could she be dehydrated?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

She looks like she is suffering from a gastroenteritis and lost some fluid so is dehydrated. You say that she drunk some fluids became feeling good and than back had hypotension. I think this has to do with Furosemide.

I think she has to lower the dose of Furosemide till the dehydration situation is passed. Also the blood pressure will get normal.

Take care.

Keep her in observation.

Best regards.
