What Causes Chronic Pain In Hips Upon Changing Position?
For past couple of weeks I have had pain in right upper buttock that hurts in most sleeping positions and when I walk and sometimes when I am sitting. It seemed to be worse after I exercised at the gym after being off for a few weeks. It doesn t seem to be in hip joint, but maybe I don t know exactly where that is.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query.
It could be either a pus collection inside your buttocks or it could be due to nerve compression at the level of lower back. This nerve compression can occur due to disc prolapse , bony ( vertebral) displacement. The function of this nerve is to supply sensation 2 lower back upper thighs and legs.
We need to find out what exactly is the cause in your case that regard recommend you to get ultrasound scan of your buttock region if the scan normal then you need to get m r i scan of your lower back this is to check for any nerve compression.
Hope this information was useful to you. Any clarifications feel free to ask.
