What Causes Chronic Pain In The Knees?

I have sudden knee pain in both knees likely from repetitive motion stress from weight lifting. Seems like it could be patellar tendonitis, but it has been three weeks and although ice and rest help, the pain is still there and it limits my activity severely. How can I determine it it needs to be looked at by a physician?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Chronic knee pain is commonly due to overuse, cartilage damage, bursitis, chondromalacia patella, Osteoarthritis or elevated uric acid levels(Gout), etc.

You are suggested to visit a GP & get physically examined. You may need physical support or medications.

Get Blood workouts & Imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing the discomfort.

You are suggested to cut on a high protein diet (red meat, paneer, cheese, etc). Take more of whole grains, leafy vegetables, fruits & veggies. Cut on alcohol or addictions if any. Do regular exercises & walking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
