What Causes Chronic Sciatica Nerve Pain Post A Meniscus Repair Surgery?
In June I had surgery to repair my left meniscus and ever since my sciatic nerve is killing me. I have been doing PT for 6 weeks now and no relief. Could it be something else?? Should I see a neurologist for this?l I know the ortho doctor removed some arthritis also at the same time, would that interrupt the sciatic nerve?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
No there is no co-relation between meniscus surgery and sciatic nerve damage. Sciatica is because of spinal nerve compression at lumbar vertebraes. What you have to do is consult ortho surgeon, get examined by him, get x-ray / CT scan whichever is suggested by him done. It will be helpful in finding what actually is compressing the nerve roots.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards Dr. Hiren
