What Causes Completely Blocked Nose After Undergoing Septorhinoplasty?
Hi, I m 9 days post op 2 days post splint removal after having septorhinoplasty and my nose is completly blocked still and I can t even get a tiny bit of air past any nostril. I douche my nose at least 4 times a day and take great care of it as surgeon advised but my question is is it possible the gel packing could still be in my nose and not yet broken down? As I can see something jelly like in both nostrils. Also my mucus when I douche is a tad green. Are these issues something to worry about or is whst I m seeing and dealing with normal. I am aware swelling can cause breathing problems but I was expecting to at least get a tiny bit of air past nostrils by now! Advice will be greatly appreciated :)
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood that you have undergone a surgery of septo-rhinoplasty.
The green mucus is suggestive that there is a severe infection for which you have to get a change-over to another antibiotics. Get a decongestant nasal spray. Do not try to over-clean as this will increase the edema. Anti-inflammatory medicines. This will get settled once the infection is settled, the edema will settle automatically and you will have open nasal air-passage.
I hope this answer helps you.
