What Causes Confusion And Hallucinations After Taking Clarithromycin?

My 90 yr old grandfather just started taking Clarithromymin and is having the severe side effects of confusion, hallucinations, nightmares, trouble sleeping. He is sleeping right now and I just looked up to see if this was caused by the medication. Should I seek medical attention right away?

Your grandfather is taking CLARITHROMYCIN and its side effects are:
Nausea, glossitis, stomatitis ( prolong use )altered taste, dizziness , headache , HALLUCINATION, INSOMNIA, DEPRESSION and other CNS effects, rash etc.
Most of side effects caused by clarithomycin is present . In elderly patients side effects are more prominent .
So at once stop the drug .
Consult your treating doctor and get his opinion regarding substitute for clarithomycin.
Stopping of drug will be sufficient.
Recovery from these symptoms within 24-48 hours .
