What Causes Constant Abdominal Pain?

Hi. I ve been having constant abdominal pain for 24 hours. The intensity lessens at certain times, but it is a constant pain. It s right under my rib cage and right in the middle. The pain is worse when I press on the area. I haven t been able to sleep because I m in so much discomfort. Should I wait and see if it goes away on it s own? Or should I go see a Dr.?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear user of HCM!
Thank you for your question!

Brief answer: Additional examination is required

Detailed answer:
If your pain is in the middle of your abdomen under the rib cage, you should check for gastritis or peptic ulcer especially if your have suffered before from this.

If your pain is under the rib cage i right side of the abdomen, liver and gallbladder should be evaluated for stones or inflammation.

I recommend you to go through an abdominal ultrasound to visualize your liver, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, and spleen. Talk with your doctor if he find any result that explain your symptoms.

Take care and i hope you will be fine soon.
All the best!
DR ERIOL.
