What Causes Constant Dizziness In A Diabetic, Hypertensive And Having High Cholesterol?
My mother will be 80 y3ars old and is experiencing constant dizziness, the doctor cleaned 1 ear and was prescribed medication that does nothing. So she stopped taking them because of the side effects and no results. She is trying to get an appointment for a brain scan prescribed by her doctor. She is diabetic, takes pills for cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, mini aspirin. What can cause dizziness?
Hi, Dizziness can be due to multitude of factors like: 1. vertigo 2. presyncope 3. neurological disease leading to muscle imbalance 4. motion sickness 5. anxiety or depression
As there are not specific history and it is not related to position, following things can be evaluated 1. Audiometry 2. Vestibular testing 3. Neuroimaging 4. Stress testing 5. Tilt table and electrophysiological studies.
Dizziness in the elderly is serious issue as it can cause a fall and a caretaker should always be nearby. If you get back with more details, I will try to help you more. Hope it helps. Dr. Prakash HM
