What Causes Constant Metallic Taste In The Tongue?

HI, developed a constant metallic taste on tongue tow days ago. Prior to that it was intermittent for a few weeks. Had some dental work in April, a cap on last molar, seeing denitist in two days in case there is some kind of infection there, or maybe failure of older fillings. Any other causes? it's pretty strong, rinsing with salt, and drinking lemon in water which seems to help for awhile but it's back in an hour or so. Thanks!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain metallic taste in mouth when you are having dental work done recently can be due to dissolution of metal or the gluing material present between the cap and the tooth..
It can also be due to other causes like tooth or gum infection, acid reflux, post nasal drip etc..

Consult your dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gum and gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash..
Drink plenty of water..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
