Emergency Medicine Specialist, Dr. Tim Evans's Response
Hi. The truthful answer to your question is that from where I am, it would be impossible to say whether this new metallic taste is a cause for concern or not. Your husband has clearly had a horrendous few weeks. Undoubtedly he is seeing his neurosurgeon in his follow-up regime. Given that this symptom has been present for the past 4 days, I would suggest calling his consultant directly or via his secretary or registrar in order to ask this question. Your husband's neurosurgical team will have far more details into the specifics of his head injury than I have. His medical team will be only too happy to take your call. Do not feel as though you are putting them out. I hope this helps.
