What Causes Constant Negative Thoughts While On Medication For Depression?

I have found several medical terms, none of which seem exactly appropriate for my problem. I am on medication for depression and anxiety, which do alleviate my conditions but do not get to the underlying issue I ve had since my mother died when I was 8: I ve raised my two children with selfless love and care yet my son forcing the past on me reveals that I rarely hugged him after junior-high school; the same with my daughter. I also have not said I love you near as much as I thought about it; all affectations have been practically absent. I was Mr. Mom and shared all of me but somehow I resulted in treating my own kids with very little more than I did for all the children in my life, especially my children s schoolmates.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. I guess all mothers go through the stage that you are going through when the kids grow up enough to accuse you of little things that you did for them while ignoring the bigger sacrifices and arrangements you have done to reach a stage where they can stand in front of you and talk. But they are kids. They will get mature and they will understand one day how much you have actually done for them and they will learn to appreciate that. Do not let your anxiety or depression worsen because of them. If your kids feel that you do not show much affection, start expressing your feelings for them in various ways. Do research on internet to find out some of the ways.

However, if you feel that the current doses of medicines are not helping you to deal with the new stresses formed currently, you can consult your psychiatrist and go for higher dose or other medicines for some time and decrease the dose again after you settle down regarding your health.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
